Saito Family, c. 1914. Ichiemon Saito began working at the Houghton Greenhouses on Lake Washington Boulevard and NE 57^th St. in the ‘teens. He moved out of the Eastside area in 1919. Note the large greenhouses, with a smokestack and two stories, and the truck loaded with wrapped Easter lilies. Now there are condos and office buildings and not a greenhouse in sight.
